Vocoding

What Is Vocoding?

Vocoding is a private desktop AI workspace for real business work. It keeps context, files, rules, agents, skills, optimizers and model choice together, then turns spoken or typed intent into finished work.

Vocoding Is Not a Vocoder

The name may sound similar, but Vocoding and vocoders are completely different things:

  • Vocoder — An audio synthesis effect used in music production. It encodes and modifies voice signals to create robotic or harmonic effects. Think Daft Punk or Kraftwerk.
  • Vocode — A developer framework (vocode.dev) for building voice-based LLM agents. It is an SDK, not a finished product.
  • Vocoding — A desktop AI workspace for clients, projects and workflows. You install it, press a shortcut, speak or type, and work from the context already saved in that workspace.

How Vocoding Works

1

Speak Naturally

Press a shortcut and describe what you need. Vocoding transcribes locally with Whisper AI — your audio is processed locally by default.

2

Automatic Routing

The workspace engine analyzes your request and routes it to the best-fit agent, skill, optimizer or runtime path.

3

Expert Output

The selected agent processes your request with domain-specific knowledge and formatting tuned for your tools.

4

Auto-Paste

The result is automatically pasted into your active application. No copy-paste, no tab switching.

What Makes Vocoding Different

Specialized Agents

Not a single generic AI. Each agent has domain expertise, custom system prompts, and output formatting for specific tasks — coding, marketing, business, creative, and more.

Local-First Privacy

Voice transcription happens on your device with Whisper AI. Audio is never uploaded to any server.

Local, cloud and account runtimes

Use local Ollama, cloud providers through your own keys, or supported ChatGPT/Codex and Gemini account runtimes. You choose per task.

Works With Any App

Vocoding is a desktop app that integrates universally via auto-paste. Works with Cursor, VS Code, Terminal, Slack, Notion, and any text-accepting application.

One-Time Purchase

No subscriptions. The Founder Edition is a single payment of EUR 147 with a perpetual license and lifetime updates for the major version.

Who Uses Vocoding?

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Vocoding the same as a vocoder?

No. A vocoder is an audio synthesis effect used in music production. Vocoding is a desktop AI workspace that uses your context and model choices to help with real work. They share a similar name but serve entirely different purposes.

Is Vocoding the same as Vocode?

No. Vocode (vocode.dev) is a developer framework for building voice-based LLM agents. Vocoding is a ready-to-use desktop application with pre-built specialist agents. Vocode is a developer SDK; Vocoding is a finished product.

Does Vocoding send my voice to the cloud?

No. By default, voice transcription happens locally on your device using Whisper AI. You can optionally use cloud transcription via Groq. Only the transcribed text is sent to an AI provider when you use a cloud model — and you can avoid even that by using local models via Ollama.

What platforms does Vocoding support?

Vocoding is available for macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Windows. It is a native desktop application built with Tauri and Rust.

How much does Vocoding cost?

The Founder Edition is a one-time payment of EUR 147 with a perpetual license and lifetime updates for the major version. No subscriptions. You provide your own AI API keys or use free local models.
