Voice Recording

Three methods to record your voice and tips for better results.

Starting a Recording

  • Press the hotkey (Option + Space on macOS / Alt + Space on Windows)
  • Speak your idea
  • The recording is processed when you stop speaking (if VAD auto-stop is enabled) or when you press the hotkey again

Method 2: Click Microphone Button

  • Click the microphone icon in the composer
  • Speak your idea
  • Click the stop button (square icon) to finish

Method 3: Mode-Specific Hotkeys

  • Cmd + Shift + R / Ctrl + Shift + R — Transcribe only (no LLM)
  • Cmd + Shift + O / Ctrl + Shift + O — Optimize (with LLM)

Recording Tips

  1. Speak clearly — Normal conversational pace works best
  2. Minimize background noise — Whisper handles some noise, but quiet is better
  3. Don't worry about filler words — LLM optimization cleans "umms" and "uhhs"
  4. Be specific — "Create a login form with email validation" is better than "make something for users"
  5. Be specific about the outcome — "...as a blog post" or "...as a professional email"

While Recording

You will see:

  • Waveform — Visual representation of your audio input
  • Timer — Duration of current recording (MM:SS format)
  • Red background — The microphone button turns red with a square stop icon

Canceling a Recording

Press Escape at any time to cancel without processing.
